Animal Husbandry – “Top Ratings” in Every Respect

All of our animals are raised on farms that comply with EU-Eco-Regulations 834/2007 and 889/2008. In addition, all producers are members of recognized German farming associations such as  Biokreis, Biopark, Naturland and Verbund Ökohöfe. This means that our animals meet the exacting standards of the EU-Eco-Regulations as well as the even more stringent guidelines of the respective farming association! All farms are fully qualified organic production facilities. Farms with partially converted operations are not allowed. The adult animals must have been raised on organic farms to ensure the organic quality of the supply chain from egg to packaged grocery.

Organic animal husbandry is characteristically very close to nature. For this reason we choose breeds that easily adapt to their environment, are very vigorous and extremely resilient to disease.

Close to nature means:

• Generous yards and grazing areas with natural and augmented protection against excessive sun as well as predatory birds.
• A winter garden which can be accessed from the pens at any time to allow for exercise even in inclement weather.
• Ideal conditions in the pens including unfettered access to food and water, sufficient fresh air and sunshine and a low level of dust. Temperature and humidity are maintained at species-appropriate and age-appropriate levels.

The yards are predominantly grass covered. Our animals have access to generous grazing areas with 4 square metres for chickens and 10 square metres for turkeys.
